Michael Pitt To Play Mason Verger On Season 2 Of Hannibal
From Boardwalk Empire to Hannibal. Michael Pitt has been set for the role of Mason Verger in season 2 of the NBC drama series, according to EW.
Described as a "major role," Pitt's character, a rich but unstable patient of Dr. Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) will show up late in the season, though he probably won't be sporting the Gary Oldman look from the 2001 Hannibal film:
That was an older version of Verger, while NBC's Hanniabal's timeline is set before the events of the film. So Pitt likely won't be disfigured and EW goes on to describe him thus:
a cast description for the role compared him to the way Andrew Scott played Moriarty on Sherlock.
Season 2 of Hannibal will return to NBC on February 28th.
