Right To Reply: Man From Space, Is There A Fallacy In The Galaxy by Marc Jackson

Last week Kate Kotler wrote an article about her experiences with Marc Jackson. Bleeding Cool is pleased to provide Marc with a right to reply. He writes;

It's time to talk facts.

Fact one: My name is Marc Jackson, creator of the intergalactic eye-ball feast MAN FROM SPACE, this much is true.

From this point onwards facts two, three, four and beyond, may or may not be as factually accurate as some would hope. However sometimes facts, cannot truly be factual in this day and age… that's a fact. Take them as you will, but in the future if the facts change, or maybe the perception of those facts changes, you might well be looking at factual accuracy of the highest degree.

Fact two: My web comic is based on the 1973 Spanish short story 'Hombre del Espacio' which incidentally is one of Penelope Cruz's favourite works of fiction and directly linked to the next fact and subsequent chain of events…

Fact three: Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise were 'chatting' a few years back on the set of Vanilla Sky and Tom happened to mention the story in passing. It seems one thing that fuelled his passion for Ms Cruz, was her love of this tale of adventure in a distant galaxy. That and of course her smoldering bedroom eyes… Steve was very interested. If his old pal Tom was so excited by this, he knew he needed to discover it for himself and so he did.

Big time.

Fact four: Fast forward some 10 years and I'm turning out a regular web comic based on that short story. I have Steven Spielberg sat beside me, watching keenly as I move the mouse across my desk. I could see the excitement in his eyes in the reflection of my monitor. Steve was about to make me an offer I couldn't refuse.

Fact five: Steve believed my comic could be bigger than E.T. bigger than Star Wars, hell maybe even bigger than Howard the Duck… He suggested I meet with his old pal George who could 'help' to realize this dream. It was at that point that I Marc Jackson, creator of the intergalactic eye-ball feast MAN FROM SPACE, turned to him and said 'Steve… I don't think so. Remember the UFO at the end of the Crystal Skull Steve, wasn't that George's idea?' He smiled, he knew the truth, he knew in his heart that George couldn't be involved. He owed that to Tom and especially to his past love Penelope.

Fact six: I got carried away, tell me who wouldn't? I'm riding high on a wave of thrills and excitement and I didn't care who I told… I'd brag and boast but people told me, don't piss of the 'Berg, he'll drop you like a body off a bridge.

Fact seven: It's soon after this that things started to go wrong. Did I mention this potential movie deal on Twitter? Yes I did. Was I the subject of an article on this very website ousting me as some kind of fictional tale teller of the factually inaccurate type? Yes I was. Did Steve finally realize his loyalties lay with his friend George? Yes he did. Is any of this true? Sorry, can you repeat the question?

So here I am Marc Jackson, creator of the intergalactic web comic eye-ball feast MAN FROM SPACE, back where I started.

Some of you out there now know me and know my comic, however I still only have 31 fans on Facebook, Steven Spielberg won't return my calls and Geek Girl has a thing for my wife.

I'll still continue with the comic, if you have chance, give it a go, it won't change the world but if you're a fan of RGB technicolour excitement, well look no further.

I thank all involved who got me this far. We did it together and I hope one day Steve and Geek Girl can find it in hearts to forgive me.
