MANGA FROM HELL

Anime News Network reports and translates the blog of manga creator Yuu Watase, and her troubles working on Arata: The Legend with her publisher,

"It was very difficult to deal with and caused a lot of stress, especially with a weekly publication… It was pretty much Hell. At some point, I was no longer doing it for the sake of the readers, or even for the sake of the manga as a body of work. I was just drawing storyboards and layouts solely to get his approval and keep going… Just thinking about how nothing I drew would get approved made it more and more difficult to draw successive pages, and nonsensical cuts and edits made it hard for me to draw anything at all."

DEADPOOL GETS A DEADBRIDE

The Deadpool digital comic The Gauntlet (much derided by retailers in its free print form) has introduced the lucky lady set to be wed in April.

The encounter came at the end of the third chapter of the current Infinite Comics series "Deadpool: The Gauntlet" by writers Gerry Duggan & Brian Posehn and artist Reilly Brown. Deadpool tricked the actual Minotaur of Ancient Greek myth into ramming a zebra-drawn horse cart carrying a casket he had obtained for the vampire lord Dracula and the resulting crash broke open the casket and released a mysterious female figure who identified herself as Shiklah, Queen of the Undead.

UP AND UNDER

It's not often the Jock becomes the Nerd. But ex-rugby player Paul Martin for the Chiefs from New Zealand is crossing the divide.

The former prop – who played 69 times for Waikato from 1993-2000, as well as two seasons with the Chiefs and three years playing club rugby in France – is the writer and artist of The Adventures of Kory – Flight of the Kiwi, a graphic novel that is in stores now.

The book tells the story of the titular kiwi and his sidekick Gilbert the gecko, who cross paths with the evil Gregor, a grey wolf from Europe, and his henchmen.
