Saga #48 Spares Readers The Agony As It Goes On Break

Saga by Fiona Staples and Brian K. Vaughan is going on a publishing break again. Saga #48, published today, will be the last until 2018 — and February at the earliest.

The last time they did this, with Saga #42 in January, they ended on a tragic cliffhanger. There was death, despondency, and a series of final jet-black pages to note the moment. And then nothing until May's Saga #43 for twenty-five cents in order to numb the pain.

This time though, they have decided to spare Saga readers the grief. While the final page speaks of much to come, of interest and intrigue and even excitement, there is no attempt to encourage readers to stab knitting needles into their eye sockets in despair.

Or even smash in their walrus-like canines.

So, you may be saying goodbye to Saga for a few months, but the creators are sparing you the agony that usually accompanies it. Aren't they nice?
