Scott Lobdell Donates Fees From His New Comic Set In Las Vegas
Superhero comic books tend to get re-evaluated in the wake of real-life tragedies and people can often find parallels. On the events of 9/11, suddenly everyone could see all the planes flying into skyscrapers in comics that week. As the hurricanes hit in recent weeks, suddenly the events in the most recent issue of Harley Quinn, with her teaming up with Swamp Thing to stop such an innocent take on a different, more tragic flavour, than the wild-eyed escapism that was intended.
And now the events of Las Vegas yesterday in which a gunman opened fire in a casino, killing over 50 and wounding ten times that, puts the destruction scenes of that city in Secret Empire, now being revisited in Scarlet Spider-Man into sharp relief.
Such it seems is the also the case with No World, the Aspen-universe superhero team crossover team written by Scott Lobdell. But he wants to acknowledge that fact. He writes:
"Was working through the night on a comic book that takes place on the streets of Vegas — Good v Evil. When reality intruded. So heartsick. Praying for the dead, the wounded and their families. I'm donating all my fees from the issue to https://www.gofundme.com/dr2ks2-las-vegas-victims-fund"
The fund is currently close to three million dollars.
