Superman's Villains React to Secret Identity Reveal in Superman: Villains #1 [Preview]
Superman: Villains #1 hits stores from DC Comics this week, as comic books continue to slowly transform into the comic book media that covers them.
It's like all those articles ComicBook.com posts whenever a celebrity dies. "WWE Superstars react to Stan Lee's Death!" "Carrie Fisher's Dog reacts to Carrie Fisher's Death!" "What would Stan Lee have thought about the Popeye's Chicken Sandwich?!" That sort of thing.
Except here, instead of paying by wading through obtrusive popup ads, you have to shell out $5.99 for a one-shot comic.
And instead of embedded tweets from dozens of celebrities…
…you get a few panels by dozens of creative teams.
"Villains react to Superman's Secret Identity reveal!" is really what counts for both a clickbait article headline and a comic book pitch these days.
Listen, comic book pros, we don't want to ever hear you talking trash about the comic book media again, you hypocrites. You know all those times you act like comic book "journalists" are just writing about comics because they can't make comics themselves? Well, how do you explain pretending to be comic book "journalists" by making your own version of clickbait?
Check and mate.
Superman: Villains #1 hits stores on Wednesday.
