Texeira And A Hero's Death

I got a Facebook request from Mark Texeira to like his page for A Hero's Death. I wasn't sure what it was, so I clicked to find out. Turns out that Mark and writer Ricardo Sanchez are doing a kickstarter for their original graphic novel. Mark of course is known for his work on Wolverine, Sabertooth, Punisher and Ghost Rider while Ricardo's comic credits include Resident Evil, Rift: Telara Chronicles and Legends of the Dark Knight. Knowing their backgrounds I was even more curious what this new project was.

AHeroesDeath

I found this description for the project on their website.

The Hero died twenty years ago, but the implications of her death still linger for a young reporter determined to get to the truth of what happened, regardless the cost. "A Hero's Death" is a story about our collective need for hope, optimism – and heroes.

And Sanchez is quoted as saying this about why he wrote the story:

I can still remember as a kid reading Superman and Spiderman and Wonder Woman and just feeling good when the hero won the day. Too many stories now are jaded or dark, I wanted to recreate that feeling I had reading those classic stories, but I wanted to do it in a way that also showed the costs to the heroes for being there for us.

The Kickstarter hasn't been put up yet, but their site allows you to subscribe and gives you and idea of what they will be offering for your support including offering the book in both digital and print formats. The script is done and Texeira is working on the art. He is filming some of this work and posting it so folks can follow along.

As a fan of Texeira's work, I am eager to see this story progress and I clicked "like" on their Facebook page.
