The $3000 Fan Of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

CBLDF2-e1457716864905Bret Parks of Ssalefish Comics in Winston Salem, NC bid $3000 to win this piece a couple of weeks ago to benefit the CBLDF.

Kevin Eastman writes,

Thank you Bret for your generosity and it was AWESOME meeting and chatting with you while I worked on this piece.

Fiona asked Bret a bit about why he acquired this work and his plan for it.  Here's what he has to say:

"I have been a TMNT fan since the day I bought issue 3 at my local comic book store.  My cousin Casey was born the same day and I took the comic with me to the hospital to meet her.

Kevin was sitting at the table next to me and invited me to sit for a while and watch him draw.  After chatting a bit, I told him that I was taking that art home with me.  I didn't place a bid until the piece was at $1800 and when it hit $2000 I asked Ted Adams if we was willing to ship it home "when I win".  I didn't want to take in on my plane ride from Portland to North Carolina.  Ted agreed and I outlasted an executive for Diamond Comic Distributors and Shawn from Skybound and won with a $3000 bid.

The art is currently with my framer and we are going to use a nice "turtle shell" green matte and hang it up in the store for all of customers to faint over."

Thank you again Bret!
