The Movement #1 Echoes V For Vendetta And Court Of The Owls
The Movement #1 by Gail Simone and Freddie Williams II is published today. And despite certain publicity machines painting it as an Occupy Comics book, it isn't that.
Indeed, rather than a liberal fantasy, it has elements of Tea Party politics, superpowers being held my a group of people forming a militia against invasive government operations that harm the people they are meant to be serving and protecting.
But there's one thing that does speak to Occupy, with their V For Vendetta masks, but also via the recent Bat crossover Court of The Owls. A new, featureless mask, worn by the movement, as well as social network media used as an offensive weapon. A weapon which everyone has, and a mask that can remain hidden until the last moment.
They're everywhere. Just as you can buy V For Vendetta and Court Of The Owls masks, how long before The Movement joins them? If nothing else, it will make one hell of an easy cosplay for San Diego.
