The Superhero Costumes Of Power Girl And Silk, Under Criticism From Their Own Comics
Two comics, two companies. Amazing Spider-Man and Harley Quinn, both big sellers, both out today, and both having female characters criticize the inappropriateness of the costumes of their female guest stars. In Power Girl's case, herself.
And Silk is standing right there but you can't see! Not only is there a lack of sisterhood, but she can't actually see her intern standing next to her.
Whereas Power Girl, suffering amnesia, is the perfect critic of her own sartorial choices. Not that this doesn't stop Harley Quinn from wanting to emulate them.
In Amazing Spider-Man, Silk does something about it with a new look for the character. Even if her boss still can't see that this is the same woman who was standing next to her minutes ago.
Even Power Girl can see how dumb that is…
Oh and a neat use of extending that final panel on the tier up a notch in both directions, to mirror the vertical pull of Power Girl's hair by Harley. Film can't do that…
