There's No Schedule For Afterlife With Archie – Francesco Francavilla At MondoCon 2016
Brandon Wainerdi writes,
All-star illustrator and artist Francesco Francavilla took some time out of his busy con to talk to Bleeding Cool about his special Aliens screenprint at MondoCon, the difference between comic art and poster art as well as some upcoming projects. 2017 is shaping up to be a busy year for Mr. Francavilla (and his signature style) and I personally can't wait.
Some snippets from the transcript of our interview:
BW: Let's just start off and talk about what you brought especially for MondoCon and maybe your history with the company!
Francesco Francavilla: Well, I've been a good friend of the Mondo guys for a long time now, think it was back in 2011. I did my very first poster for San Diego Comic Con and, since then, we've been working together on many occasions. They invited me and Jock and the usual collaborators … this is a different convention than a normal comic convention. I like the different crowd. This is my third time. They invited me again! I said "of course!"
I had my first gallery show with them two months ago: The Comic Art of Francesco Francavilla. I'm back. I love Austin and I love these guys. It's always a blast.
But, for this special occasion, I brought a couple of exclusive prints, including my first ever release as a screen print. I usually work for other companies but since I got the license from Fox to do Aliens … I did my own release.
BW: What do have up your sleeve? What do you have coming up?
FF: Well, I have Black Beetle coming back next month in November, in the pages of Dark Horse Presents. So it'll be November, December, January and February … four installments. I've been doing this for ten years. I'm working on Moon Knight but that's coming to an end. I think I'm signed on until Issue 9 and Issue 7 just came out. So a couple more issues.
And I'm doing All-Star Batman with Jock and Scott Snyder. I think that's coming out in January.
And then Afterlife With Archie … there's no schedule (laughs.) That's coming out. We're wrapping up the second arc.
The Spirit will be with Dynamite, also coming out in January. So, I'm keeping busy. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
