Thrillbent Changes Up The Way Kickstarters Are Done
Thillbent has decided to back a new project by Scott Massino and Scott Kollins called Varney The Vampire and they are doing things very differently and calling on a lot of named talent to help.
To start with they are letting you read the first two chapters of the story for free on their website. The first chapter went up on the 17th and the second will be released on the 24th. So what's going on here? This is what Mark Waid has to say on the Kickstarter page:
As I've been saying, it's not "Digital vs Print," it's "Digital AND Print. I've had my eye on "Varney" for a while now. It's clever, it's really well done, and Thrillbent is happy to promote it. Writer Scott Massino and seasoned comics artist Scott Kolins with whom I've collaborated in the past, have cooked up a tale about the most terrifying blood-suckers known to man: vampires, family and Hollywood.
— Mark Waid, Thrillbent Publisher
The idea behind the story is that Varney was the original vampire and Bram Stoker stole his story. Now Varney wants his reputation back and he's hired a modern day screenwriter to get it back.
The real interesting thing here is the rewards include lobby cards created by some amazing artists: Brett Blevins, Glen Fabry, Kyle Hotz, Jamal Igle, Kelly Jones, Mike Ploog, Darick Robertson, Steven Segovia and many others.
So check out their kickstarter and if you like what you see, how them towards their goal.
