Top Cow's Journey Of Discovery – And The Launch Of The Tithe And The Daily GORB

discovery

Top Cow Comics have a history of publicly attracting new creators. Their Talent Hunt initiatives have published thirty writers and artists new to comic books. Top Cow President Marc Silvestri is known to personally scour DeviantArt and Facebook looking for new creators – even if they don't actually believe it's him. But that's how he found the artist Sumeyye Kesgin, of Rise Of The Magi, his new series. He's also a hands on art director for the publisher, often working on thumbnails for other series, uncredited. And he is known for finding creators whose work may be rough but in who he sees great promise And whether you're Jeff Matsuda, Michael Turner, Lerome Taylor or Billy Tan, his aim has been for them to make the best of themselves.

And at San Diego Comic Con, they've just launched a whle new way of doing that, with Kickstarter, in association with John Nee at Cryptozoic.

Top Cow are no stranger to crowdfunding projects, though they are happier to give the prouct away for free when funded, and it's the same this time as well. Their new Discovery initiative, announced at San Diego Comic Con, is aimed at discovering new voices, diverse voices, possibly those who don't usually seek this kind of publication. It will be a 100% crowdfunded publication, free at the point of sale, with fulfilment provided by Cryptozoic (so it should be a lot more efficient than last time as well!)

daily

The new line will have bigger names to kick it off and provide attention for the new titles. Firstly, The Tithe by Matt Hawkins and Rahsan Ekedal, a superchurch heist thriller. And secondly The Daily GORB by Marc Silvestri and Bridget Silvestri, based on the sketches that Marc leaves for his wife every night after working late, and that she is then inspired to write from when she wakes in the morning.
