Twelve Years Experience by Joel Ronson #2 – Marvel Vs DC

Twelve Years Experience by Joel Ronson #2 – Marvel Vs DCJoel Ronson is a new writer for Bleeding Cool. A hit at the Kapow comic convention in London last weekend, he is a twelve year old young man who loves comic books. And wants to let other people in on it.

I am more of a Marvel man than DC. The problem with DC is that most of their characters don't have personalities like Marvel characters do, with the exception of Batman and Robin.

When you compare the personality of Superman and any Marvel character, the Marvel character will win hands down.

I find Superman a bit of a simple character; he is not very complex unlike Spider-Man, my favorite. Superman is also a bit squeaky clean, if you know what I mean.

The Green Lantern series is ok but I prefer New York superheroes to space superheroes. The same with Green Arrow, I prefer New York superheroes to wilderness superheroes. Maybe I just don't like the colour green.

I think my favorite series is the Fantastic Four who slightly overtake the Spider-Man series.

What I love about the Fantastic Four is they're a team like no other, I mean, sure, there is the X-Men and the Avengers but the members of the Fantastic Four seem to be closer to each other than any other team in the comic universe. For example, when they are fighting a supervillain, they seem like a team fighting a supervillain, I mean, don't get me wrong, so do the X-Men, and the Avengers are awesome, but there is something about the Fantastic Four that I love.

But the Fantastic Four are not around at the moment after the dramatic ending of Fantastic Four issue 587, the "Three" conclusion. They've been replaced by the FF (Future Foundation). I was sad about the Fantastic Four being put on halt for a bit, but not too sad as Marvel said at Kapow! Comic-Con that Fantastic Four will come back, but I was also excited about the FF and I am afraid to say, Marvel, that I was disappointed with FF issue one.

It didn't grip me like other comics have in the past, that may be because I needed the toilet for a lot of it but couldn't go as my dog was sitting on me and I had the old X-Men theme song from the show stuck in my head but I think even if I wasn't facing those problems I would have still felt like I wanted to read The Punisher instead of this rather meh comic. I will be buying issue 2 though as there is a surprising twist/cliffhanger at the end of issue 1 and I must find out what happens next. I hope you will leave a comment telling me what you thought of FF because I don't want to think I was the only person who didn't enjoy it.

Oh yeah, I nearly forgot to tell you guys that my column is now weekly. It gets published every Monday.

I hope you have enjoyed this column and I will be back for a rant next Monday.
