Two New DC Characters And A Threesome – Nightmare Nurse And Open-Window Man
Two DC comic books, not their best sellers, but both with a certain level of invention that's rather entertaining. Phantom Stranger and Dial H. And today, giving us new characters to entertain and delight.
Dial H is always bringing in new characters, it's the nature of the book, our hero constantly reinventing himself as something brand new. They began with their best, Boy Chimney, but today have slightly revisited that character and his crew to bring us…. Open Window Man!
With the power, it appears, to knock people through open windows.
Defenestration there. Popular in Prague, if I recall. Sadly, the odds are we'll never see Open Window Man again. Odds are we will see Nightmare Nurse again, summoned to her debut appearance in today's Phantom Stranger.
A number of characters have had classic opening lines. "Face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot." "Dog carcass in alley this morning, tire tread on burst stomach." You know what, this may well be one of those.
Now, the Outhousers have already pointed out the manner in which she is nothing like a real nurse, but does it really matter for the Healer From Hell? While Open Window Man feels right out of nineties Doom Patrol, Nightmare Nurse is also a bit nineties. Just from another direction. Who needs Rob Liefeld when you can do this?
And she has a history with John Constantine. But then again, so does everyone.
I think I could get to like Nightmare Nurse.
