Who You Gonna Call? Twiztid: Haunted High-Ons Comic To Debut At New York Comic Con
Twiztid is a horrorcore rap group from Detroit, Michigan, currently consisting of Jamie Spaniolo and Paul Methric, who perform under the names of Jamie Madrox and Monoxide. Already comic book fans will see the connections there.
Well, for this year's New York Comic Con in October, Source Point Press will publish a new comic book, Twiztid: Haunted High-Ons that will debut with a one-shot, featuring the pair moonlighting as fake ghost hunters.
Jamie Madrox and Monoxide – collectively known as the horror core rap duo TWIZTID – have carved out a comfortable side-gig for themselves as fake ghost hunters… but what happens when a routine house call yields not only a ghost, but a killer demon to boot? Hijinks and horror, of course!
The comic will be available in 5 different colour variants – including a New York Comic Con exclusive (limited to 200 copies) specifically made available for a signing session at the publisher's booth with Jamie Madrox and Monoxide and the comic's full creative team, including Detroit's Dirk Manning and Italian artists Marianna Pescosta and Alessandro de Fornasari. There will also be awww.TwiztidShop.com exclusive variant at the show.
In a press release, Twiztid are quoted as saying (though not specifying which one of them) "We have talked about doing a REAL comic book for over a decade and it's finally about to happen. If that's not enough to put a smile on the ol' face, then the fact our comic book will kick off at the New York Comic Con via the Source Point Booth with us, writer Dirk Manning and the creative team, is enough to leave us all laughing like lunatics!"
Dirk Manning may be known to Bleeding Cool readers for writing for the site, and for his Image Comics and Devil;'s Due titles Tales Of Mr Rhee, Nightmare World and Love Stories (To Die For) and has worked with Marianna Pescosta and Alessandro de Fornasari before. He told us "Dirk Manning says: "As a band, Twiztid has made a career of masterfully blending horror and comedy into their music the same way I've made a career of blending horror and comedy into my comic series such as Tales Of Mr Rhee, Nightmare World and Love Stories (To Die For) making collaborating with them in writing this comic a perfect match for fans of their music as well as readers looking for a new comic series that's fresh, funny, and at times scary. Everybody wins!"
Here's a preview of the comic to look forward to…
