Could Hanamura In "Overwatch" Originally Been A Payload Map?

There a new fan theory out there about one of Overwatch's well-known maps suggesting that it originally could have been something very different. For the most part, we've always known the map to be an Assault map, where one team defends two points against the attackers. It's one of the more popular maps as it feels balanced, with one point being easy and the other being a challenge for both sides. But new evidence suggests the map could have been something completely different.

A player on Reddit posted this video showing off the start of the map where the attacking team first spawns. They then turn their camera to the left and pass through a blocked-off section of the map to reveal a road. Not just a road, but what appears to be a half-designed section that includes what appears to be a garage. The same kind of garage you might store a payload car in.

I think Hanamura might have been a payload map at some point. from r/Overwatch

So is it possible the Hanamura map was originally designed to be a Payload map where you bring something to Shimada Castle? If you follow the path of where the road goes all the way to the end, it certainly seems like a possibility. But will the devs from Overwatch ever deny/confirm it? That's a question for another time.
