Dota 2 Reset About 17K Accounts Over Cheating and Other Abuses
If you happen to be one of the people cheating on Dota 2, you might want to go check your account this week and see where you stand. With the cheating recently being caught in the esports community, it looks like Valve decided to do a little spring cleaning in advance and took action against 17,000 accounts, resetting everything back to nothing for those who were caught cheating or used unfavorable tactics in matchmaking to get themselves into ranked matches.
Usually, when a company does massive bans or resets like this, you see a lot of vitriol from people claiming they were targeted unjustly. But the feedback online seems to be mostly positive this time around with only a handful of people calling foul. However, considering Dota 2 is still one of the most popular games on the planet right now, 17k is a drop in the bucket compared to how many are probably still cheating on the servers. Here's hoping this is a monthly thing moving forward.
