Hearthstone 2018 HCT Summer Championship Results: Day One – Part 2

We're live on site at the Blizzard Arena in Los Angeles for the finals of the Hearthstone HCT 2018 Summer Championship to crown a new champ. As we watched the matches live on the floor along with the rest of the press, the crowd slowly poured in to see who would be going onto Sunday's competition with the first eight matches today. Here are the results from the latter four matches.

Match Five: Tansoku vs. Viper. Winner: Viper (3-2)

The opening of this Decider Match dragged out longer than expected as both players were stuck with a bevy of high-cost cards that slowed down the match, eventually leading to them drawing it out to about 25 minutes before Viper took the 1-0 lead. The two men dragged into another 20-minute match after that with Viper scoring the 2-0 lead. Tansoku wasn't going down that easily, however, and stopped a potential sweep with a hard-hitting third round to make it 2-1. The fourth bout was Viper's to lose, and as they drew the match out way beyond what it should have gone to, you could instantly see the frustration on his face after throwing his last play away as Tansoku tied it 2-2. To the relief of the crowd, the rubber match was swift as Viper came out swinging and finished off Tansoku to be the first player moving onto the Quarterfinals.

Match Five: A83650 vs. Bloodtrail. Winner: A83650 (3-1)

Bloodtrail, in his standard shades, had a couple opportunities to take the first point but instead made some mistakes and threw away the ending to give A8 a 1-0 lead. Bloodtrail came back swinging and fought through a few lulls to turn around his bad luck and make the game even at 1-1. Not to be outshined, A8 fired back and cut Bloodtrail down in half the time of the previous two rounds to go up 2-1. For a moment it looked like Bloodtrail was on the verge or hitting back for a tie, but then A8 rolled over him in style and took the round 3-1 to advance to the Quarterfinals. A loss so bad, Bloodtrail even had a reaction from behind the sunglasses.

Match Five: Rugal vs. Turna. Winner: Turna (3-1)

The first match in this fight felt rather anti-climatic as Turma got the victory after Rugal gave up around turn seven. Rugal was not about to let that forfeit go without a response, and rallied back to tie it up 1-1 in the second match. Neither man wanted to give up ground during the third match and stacked hard against each other looking for an advantage, but eventually, Turna gained the 2-1 lead. Going into the fourth match, there was no clear winner for about ten minutes, but near the end, Turna was able to pull out some impressive moves and claimed the victory in his Decider Match. His win also made it possible for all four European region's Hearthstone players to advance into the top eight.

Match Five: glory vs. X. Winner: killinallday (3-1)

Both parties started out slow int he first game as they were essentially racing to the bottom of their respective decks, but near the end, glory was able to take a major risk and wait killinallday out until his deck was depleted to score the 1-0 start. Killingallday brought out the big guns to fire back and took the second round to tie it up 1-1. Coming off the short break, killin was able to chain together a number of combos and get creatures out of the deck lightning quick to just overwhelm glory with damage to go up 2-1. When we got to game four, killinallday was not waiting for glory to make a comeback and made quick work of him to take the 3-1 victory.
