Examining The Loot Crate Exclusive Stay Puft From NYCC

While visiting the floor and seeing some old friends at NYCC, I passed by the Loot Craft booth and chatted with their crew. They were kind enough to pass onto me one of the two convention exclusive items they were selling that day, the Stay Puft karate figure. I decided to go more in-depth with this figure and see if he was really worth the price.

First off, as far as figures go in quality, he is really well made. The entire figure is just two pieces: Stay Puft himself, and the NYC skyline he is standing on. If the film is to be a template of any kind, he's standing on top of the 55 Central Park West, or at least the over-exaggerated version of it from the film. He takes a bit of a Karate Kid pose in the crane stance with a red headband matching his sailor suit bow. Stay Puft himself is a bit opaque with a glittery inside that isn't quite seethrough. I would equate it to glycerine with extra slitter thrown into the gel.

While he looks pretty cool, I must admit, I wouldn't have paid for him. I totally get that he is a con exclusive and they are trying to create something that fans can say "I was there for this" kind of merch. But at the same time, I have to ask myself who would actually want this. If Stay Puft were designed in a different way taking over NYC, maybe. But the karate pose makes zero sense, and because of that, I wouldn't recommend seeking it out unless you an absolutely obsessed Ghostbusters fan.
