Tencent Games decided to go overboard a bit today as they announced they have 40 new video games on the way. The company recently announced they would be releasing Pokémon UNITE and Don't Starve: Newhome, which many assumed would be the most they would be doing this year considering all the other mobile titles they're busy maintaining. But during their own annual conference today, the news was revealed that they are doing much much more. While they didn't give out too many details for the time being, we do know they have now formed partnerships with multiple companies to develop new games. The two new ones that were announced by name are SYN, which is a new cyberpunk-themed survival game for PC and consoles coming from Lightspeed & Quantum, the creators of PUBG Mobile. The other is a new untitled Metal Slug title created for mobile platforms. We have more details below on a couple of games, as well as a quote from the company's announcement today.
"Globally, the popularity of new technologies is accelerating, the innovation cycle of gameplay is shortening, and the creation of story IP is also becoming richer," said Tencent Senior Vice President Steven Ma. There is no better time than now to seize the opportunity, nurture our imaginations, explore new boundaries of creativity, and bring new values to the game community."
