The Pokémon Company Will Start Going After Leakers In Court
If you thought The Pokémon Company took all the leaks for Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield lightly, you got another thing coming. According to a report by Forbes, the company has decided that they are going to start taking legal action against those individuals who leaked info. Specifically, those who had first-hand information through hacking or other means that released info on Discord and 4Chan. So far, the company has identified four Discord users through forensic experts, one of whom supplied images to the other three, who all then turned around and posted the content.
This included unreleased images and content, strategy guide pages, and revealing Pokémon in the game ahead of time. Remember when everyone was freaking out about the list of creatures in the game and discovering some of their favorites weren't around? Some of that mayhem can partially be traced back to these leaks. That, among other things, has been determined to cause "irreparable injury" to the company and the product. You can read the full court filing here, if you feel like going over all 95 pages of the documentation. Basically, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company are looking to set an example for the future. We'll see how this case develops over time and keep you apprised.
