Xbox Boss Says He Isn't A Fan Of Paying For Exclusive Content 'So Another Console's Base Can't Play'
Xbox boss Phil Spencer has been very vocal about his dislike of 'console wars' in the past. At least public facing wise, he appears to not care so much about flinging mud and humouring those who rubbish PlayStation's brand in favour of his.
Well, again public facing, it seems he cares less about ruining the PlayStation brand, but rather in building his own. Speaking on Twitter, Spencer responded to a fan asking about their focus on first party games by saying he isn't even a fan of exclusive content that keeps things away from the PlayStation audience. He said:
Now, of course Xbox still does have some exclusive content deals with publishers and games. When that seeming hypocrisy was pointed out, he responded:
It's something I at least hope Spencer is being genuine about. Building first party presence while trying to lessen exclusives seems a noble goal for the industry. Hopefully we see more and more evidence of it.
