Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Will Be Released in Japan in the Fall
Nihon Falcom tipped their hand today announcing that Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will be coming a lot sooner than expected with a Fall 2019 release window. However, the company did have to sprinkle in some additional info after fans got excited over the news. In a pair of posts on Twitter, translated from Google, the company said,
"The long-awaited "Ys" series will be released completely this fall "It's IX – Monster NOX – (Monström – Knox)" will be released this autumn! From the isolated sea island to the city of prison! "Ys VIII" development staff challenges, action RPG "Ys" completely new work!"
But shortly after they followed it up with a slight warning.
Thank you very much for expecting a lot of people! Development is progressing well, but development is still under way. The release is "planned" to the last, it is not "decision". Thanks for your understanding.
What does that mean? Basically, the company may have jumped the gun and got a lot of people excited way earlier than anticipated, as they're still working on Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. So while they hope to have it out by the fall, there's also just as good a chance the game might get delayed if it runs into issues. Hence why we weren't given a complete release date. But if gives fans in Japan something to look forward to, as we'll likely not see a western version of the game released until 2020 at the earliest.
