No Antagonist For Wreck-It-Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks The Internet

At the Soho Hotel in London yesterday, UK press and bloggers got to see some new footage of the film Wreck-It Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks The Internet, including the much-viewed and lauded Princesses scene.

The film sees Ralph and Vanellope discovering the internet in order to buy a new steering wheel to replace the broken one on her console to avoid it getting scrapped. Which means finding a way to get online, buy one on eBay and then, through the monetisation provided creating viral videos on Buzzztube, the online service provided by Yesss played by Taraji P. Henson, and pay for it.

Something asked of producer Clark Spencer in the Q&A that followed was about an antagonist in the film. But rather than any traditional Disney villain, he cites Ralph's own fears playing the role of an antagonist rather than an actual figure, such as Turbo.

We also discovered that the character, Knowsmore, played by Alan Tudyk as a visualised search bar who always wants to complete people's sentences, was designed to reflect nineteen-fifties' style animation – and this includes having hand-drawn rather than CGI eyes.

He also apportioned blame for the Disney producer who suggested Cinderella breaking her glass slipper to use as a threatening weapon…

You can watch the Q&A here – apologies for a couple of cuts.

Wreck-It-Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks The Internet is out on 30th November in the UK and 21st November in the USA.
