Constantine – To Hell And Back: Danse Vaudou
Unlike Gotham and The Flash, NBC's Constantine got off to a bumpy start. The pilot was good but not great and the producers saw why. Their changes made for an awkward second episode that had to bring in a new regular. Meaning it wasn't until the third episode that we really started seeing what the show might be. For anyone who checked out by then, come back. Last night's episode, Danse Vaudou, was the best one yet. We got more Papa Midnight played brilliantly by Michael James Shaw. We got some thread into Zed's (Angelica Celaya) background. We saw a little more of how Chaz (Charles Halford) works. And best of all, we met Jim Corrigan (Emmett J. Scanlan). All of this going one while Constantine (Matt Ryan) has to figure out why three unrelated ghosts all rose from the dead.
The behind-the-scenes video below is very interesting in that it talks about how the episode came together, but it also talks about something most show's don't admit. Their were two people up for the main character. Scanlan and Ryan were both up for the Constantine role and it was close. The producers liked Ryan better but wanted to find a recurring role for Scanlan because of how much they liked him as well. Hence Corrigan.
