Cult Favorite Pro Wrestling Show Lucha Underground Coming To Netflix On February 15

If you're a fan of pro wrestling, or "sports entertainment" as Vince McMahon would prefer you call it, you've probably at least heard of Lucha Underground. The show, which features independent wrestlers and wrestler's from Mexico's AAA promotion, takes a cinematic approach to wrestling, which has garnered a devoted fanbase and influenced larger organizations like TNA and WWE. Despite this success, the show's availability is limited to the El Rey network in the United States, which is either not available on most standard cable packages, or available only in standard definition, or through online videos. As a result, a lot of potential fans who are interested in the show aren't able to experience it on their televisions.

That's all about to change, as the show will finally be available on Netflix, starting February 15. A deal between Netflix and Lucha Underground has been rumored for some time, but MLW Radio revealed the release date, and Netflix has confirmed.

The first two seasons of the show will be available on February 15, and presumable the current third season will be made available eventually. Hopefully, Netflix can increase interest in the show, leading to many more seasons to come, and an ongoing alternative to the typically available mainstream wrestling products. Maybe even some of Bleeding Cool's commenters who hate wrestling articles (but are still reading this one so they can complain in the comments) would even enjoy it. We'll find out in about two weeks!

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
