Could Dixie Carter Finally Be Done With TNA Wrestling?
Bleeding Cool has given a lot of coverage to Smashing Pumpkins vocalist Billy Corgan's failed attempt to take over TNA Wrestling, even though, quite frankly, you've all been very rude about the pictures. Corgan was thwarted by Dixie Carter, who has survived, cockroach-like, on top of TNA despite numerous takeover attempts and implosions of the company's business over the years, using her uncanny dominance to subject viewers to such tortures as repeated Vince Russo creative runs and Hulk Hogan's ego. However, it looks like Dixie may finally have been defeated by the very company that bailed her out of Corgan's takeover attempt.
According to a report from PWInsider's "elite" subscription service, being reported for free via 411 Wrestling, because honestly, who's going to pay for that, an announcement is coming in the next 24 hours revealing that Anthem Sports and Entertainment has outright purchased TNA and Impact Ventures, and that Dixie Carter is done with the company "in terms of having any true position of power and Ed Nordholm of Anthem will be the lead person going forward."
The key thing there is that, though Dixie may be out of power, she's still involved in some way. That means there's still a chance Dixie can turn this around and come out on top. Can we expect Dixie Carter to be the new head of Anthem Sports and Entertainment before the year is out? We'd say it's more likely than not.
2016, you truly are the worst.
