Dune was released at a strange time. It was late 2021, and we were all still coming out of the fever dream that was 2020, and a lot of people still didn't feel safe going to the theaters. At the time, Warner Bros. and Legendary made the film a hybrid release on HBO Max and in theaters. The film was a success even with those circumstances, but there was likely a large group of people who didn't get the chance to see the movie on the big screen because they were opting to stay home to be safe. Dune: Part Two comes out in March, and to help get some more hype for that and to give fans of the original a chance to see the first film in all of its glory, it was announced today that Dune would be returning to IMAX theaters for one night only on January 24th. The event also includes a sneak peek of Dune: Part Two. Tickets are on sale now.
