Whoa. Here's the official statement:
Marvel and Edgar Wright jointly announced today that the studio and director have parted ways on ANT-MAN due to differences in their vision of the film. The decision to move on is amicable and does not impact the release date on July 17, 2015. A new director will be announced shortly.
It's the Friday before a long holiday weekend in Hollywood, which means time for studios and celebrities to release all the news they don't really want getting out but will be out there so might as well do it when a good chunk of people already have their eyes on their vacation.
This is certainly bad news, especially for those of us who have been looking forward to this particular collaboration for a long time. What happened? Who will replace him? Will anyone really be deemed a worthy replacement?
