Gavin O'Connor To Write And Direct Suicide Squad 2

Suicide Squad 2 has found its writer and possibly its director according to Variety. Gavin O'Connor, who recently directed The Accountant for Warner Bros, has been brought on to write the movie and is in final talks to be the director of the Warner Bros sequel.

The movie, which likely won't begin production until the end of next year because of scheduling issues, has been a hot topic of conversation in recent weeks. The first movie was a hit for Warner Bros but was critically slammed. It didn't work because it appeared someone had edited the movie considerably after everything was shot. David Ayer, who directed and wrote the first Suicide Squad, mentioned that he only had six weeks to write the script. This is a movie that's likely a year away from starting production and they don't want to make the same mistake again. They're going to give O'Connor time to get things right as far as the script goes.

Suicide Squad 2 is looking at a 2019 release date though no specifics have been given yet. Most of the main cast is looking like they're going to return at least in some capacity.
