Hannibal Buress Sent An Impersonator To Spider-Man: Homecoming Premiere And Nobody Noticed
Comedian Hannibal Buress was apparently unable to make it to the premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming, so he hired someone to go in his stead. In now-deleted tweets, Buress offered $500 for a "lookalike" to stand in for him at the premiere, and eventually hired actor Joe Carroll. Though they don't really look alike aside from in the most superficial ways, like Buress, Carroll is bald, and like Buress, Carrol is black, and this seemed to be enough to fool media at the event, with Caroll being interviewed as Buress without any suspicion:
Buress, who plays Coach Wilson in Spider-Man: Homecoming, attributes the stunt to extreme "FOMO" – fear of missing out.
Buress also tweeted a YouTube video of the interview, though that portion was reportedly removed from replays of Marvel's livestream video of the red carpet event:
For fans who want to see the real Hannibal Buress, they'll have to go and see Spider-Man: Homecoming in theaters next week. At least, we assume that's the case. Has anyone checked to make sure it's him?!
