Jake Johnson Talks the "Exciting" World of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
Last week the full trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse dropped and proceeded to go viral. It was one of the biggest trailers Sony Pictures has had in a long time. We also got an answer about who would be voicing the Peter Parker version of Spider-Man; Jake Johnson. Johnson has another movie coming out this week, Tag, and Screen Rant had the chance to ask Johnson what makes this version of Spider-Man so special. Johnson gave a lot of credit directors and writer Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
There's a lot of very talented people involved in it. But the fact that Chris Miller and Phil Lord are part of the heart of that, I don't think you're going to find two more talented people. Those are guys, I am proud to be in their Chris and Phil repertoire.
Johnson also stressed how important positive stories are especially in a world where so many terrible things are happening.
As a fan, it feels like, we're in a new world. And I like the new world we're going towards. Everyone talks about this time period being such a hard time period. But I'm like, 'Everybody, its got to get dark before the morning." So I'm like, "You do see, look, there are some really terrible sh*t happening. We also see the positive stuff…It's exciting. I feel like there's an exciting thing happening."
This is a movie that some people probably didn't even know was coming out and after that second trailer it's likely jumped to the top of a lot of people's lists for the end of the year. December is a packed month though so it has plenty of competition.
Summary: Spider-Man crosses parallel dimensions and teams up with the Spider-Men of those dimensions to stop a threat to all reality.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, stars Shameik Moore, Liev Schreiber, Lily Tomlin, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Luna Lauren Velez, and Hailee Steinfeld. It will be released on December 14th.
