John Williams Will Write Theme for Solo: A Star Wars Story
Legendary composer John Williams is returning for another Star Wars movie! Williams will write the theme for the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story, the Han Solo solo adventure starring Aiden Ehrenreich as the titular young Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke as a character named Kira.
Unlike the main Star Wars movies, however, Williams won't be writing the entire score. That task falls to John Powell, who was previously announced as composer over the summer.
"The present plan is that I'm writing a theme for Han Solo, and John Powell is going to write the score, which he'll do brilliantly," Williams said in an interview with Variety. "His assignment is something I'm very happy about. What I will do is offer this to John, and to [director] Ron Howard, and if all parties are happy with it, then I will be happy. … John [Powell] will complete the score. He will write all the rest of the themes and all of the other material, which I'm going to be very anxious to hear."
The movie is set for release in May. A recent rumor suggests Disney thinks the film could be a bomb, but on the bright side, at least it will sound nice.
