Lionsgate Sets Release Dates For Leonardo DiCaprio's 'Robin Hood' And More
Liongates has set a few new release dates for 2018, as announced by Deadline. The Leonardo DiCaprio-produced Robin Hood has been moved from March 23rd, 2018 to September 21st, 2018. The only competition on that date currently is Goosebumps 2, while the old date has major competition including Pacific Rim: Uprising. Robin Hood's description reads:
"Peaky Blinders' Otto Bathurst directs Taron Egerton (Robin Hood), Jamie Foxx (Little John), Jamie Dornan (Will Scarlett), Eve Hewson (Maid Marian) and Paul Anderson in what is a darkly toned title that follows the classic hero following his Crusades battles. Returning to Sherwood Forest, Robin Hood finds it rife with corruption and evil. He forms a band of outlaws, and they take matters into their own hands, leading a revolt against the corrupt English crown."
Tyler Perry's She's Living My Life has been retitled to Tyler Perry's Acrimony and will keep its March 30th release date.
Summit Entertainment also announced the movie Traffik, directed by Deon Taylor, starring Paula Patton, Omar Epps, Roselyn Sanchez, and Laz Alonso will open on April 27th. It's currently the only wide release on that date. The description reads:
"Patton plays an investigative journalist who, during a romantic getaway with her beau, encounters a gang involved in sex trafficking. Their weekend becomes one of survival as they're caught in the cross hairs."
The comedy Uncle Drew, directed by Charles Stone III, will be opening against New Line's comedy Tag and Sony's Sicario 2: Soldado on June 29th. Uncle Drew's summary reads:
"After draining his life savings to enter a team in the Rucker Classic street ball tournament in Harlem, Dax (LilRel Howery) is dealt a series of unfortunate setbacks, including losing his team to his longtime rival (Nick Kroll). Desperate to win the tournament and the cash prize, Dax stumbles upon the man, the myth, the legend Uncle Drew (NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving) and convinces him to return to the court. The two men embark on a road trip to round up Drew's old basketball squad (Shaquille O'Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson and Lisa Leslie) and prove that a group of septuagenarians can still win the big one."
Finally, on October 12th, a movie called Hellfest and is directed by Gregory Plotkin. It will open against Universal's Neil Armstrong biopic First Man starring Ryan Gosling and Claire Foy.
"Hellfest follows a costumed killer who enters a seasonal horror theme park on Halloween night and begins murdering with impunity in front of crowds. Only thing is, they think it's all part of the show."
