There's A Mark Strong/Halle Berry Love Scene In Kingsman 2 That Didn't Make The Cut
At the Leixester Square premiere of Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle last night, Halle Berry mentioned that there's a love scene between her character Ginger Ale and that of Mark Strong's character, Merlin, that didn't make the cut. The characters portray similar roles within their respective agencies, Kingsman and Statesman, that of a rather active IT support. Working together to support the assault on Poppy and her drug-addled scheme to change the world, they share a moment or two but no further. Ginger Ale wants to be a more active in-the-field agent while Merlin is happier to be the backroom boy. But, as the movie plays out, Merlin has to step up. Or rather step on. And it's that which helps motivate Ginger Ale to her goal – but knowing that there was originally intended to be something between them makes that move make a lot more sense.
However, according to Berry, there was originally a lot more between the characters that was dropped from the final cut. However, Berry says that the writer/director Matthew Vaughn has told her it will be restored for a DVD/Blu-Ray release.
Might be worth seeing how those scenes all work in context…
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is released on Friday in the USA and today in the UK.
