Marvel Developing An Agents Of SHIELD Spinoff

SHIELD

Reports say that Marvel is developing a spinoff of Agent's of SHIELD for ABC. With the likelihood of a third season on the horizon, the show currently averages 7.4 million viewers and a 2.8 rating among adults 18-49, when including the Live +7 data. The mid-season spinoff Agent Carter is said to have about a 60% chance of returning as well. So ABC is looking at the SHIELD brand as being successful and wants more.

No details on the spinoff were available and both ABC and Marvel had no comment on the news. But with the success of the CW's shared DC universe and the hype of the upcoming Netflix series starting with Daredevil it only makes sense ABC would double down.

This season the cast of SHIELD has grown quite large, so spinning off a few characters should be easy without it affecting the main series. You could easily move Mockingbird off on her own with Mack plus there is the character of Deathlok that made his return this week. It wouldn't be a stretch to seem them make a team of powered characters as a strike force or have one group continue dealing with the everyday SHIELD stuff while another specifically goes after Hydra. Lots of possibilities, but I think whatever they plan on doing we'll have a better idea of when the season ends.
