New 'DOOM' Movie Coming From Universal Pictures

Apparently that twitter exchange between Dwayne The Rock Johnson and the official DOOM account wasn't just hype.  Although at this time there is no confirmation that The Rock will have a part in the videogame film, we do know it's actively being developed.

New 'DOOM' Movie Coming From Universal Pictures

Back on the 17th, actress and singer Nina Bergman posted on her personal twitter account that she was finishing the paperwork to be a part of the upcoming new Doom film.

"Wow I'm doing the next "Doom" movie w Universal Pictures! I just signed all the paperwork. I get to go back to Bulgaria again and work with some of my favorite people. This movie w a super cool Director AND my new record coming out, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world," her tweet read.

Variety just reported that an unnamed NBC Universal spokesperson 'confirmed' to them exclusively that the new Doom film is being handled by Universal 1440 Entertainment, who specialize in producing live-action and animated non-theatrical productions directly for distribution .

This could possibly mean a film or project for a streaming service like Netflix or Amazon, or maybe a direct to DVD release.

Considering how the last two video game adaptations did at the worldwide box office, maybe streaming is the way to go. The last time a Doom film was made it was 2005, and was based on the 1993 id Software first-person-shooter game of the same name.

We'll let you know as soon as any more information about this film comes to light.
