Not So Fast! New Report Claims WB And Ben Affleck Are Happy With The Batman Script, Which Won't Be Rewritten Again

A recent report originating from Man of Steel advocate Mark Hughes at Forbes, which we reported on earlier today, claimed that, following Ben Affleck's departure as director of The Batman, Affleck would also no longer be the writer of the film. Though Affleck's script has already been rewritten once by Chris Terrio, Hughes claimed the movie could be in line for a completely new script and story to give the new director a fresh start, citing unnamed sources.

However, as pointed out by a report from Batman news themed Batman news site Batman-News, Variety reporter Justin Kroll tells a different story:

So which is it? Whose anonymous sources do we believe? We're tempted to go with Kroll's, since Hughes is a fan of Man of Steel, but then again, even a clock that has had its neck snapped is right twice a day. Affleck spent months going back and forth on whether he would direct The Batman, claiming he would not do it if the script was not good. Ultimately, Affleck decided not to direct, if this report is correct, after the script came in.

Folks, it looks like we may have to wait and see on this one. At this point, Ben Affleck will need to be considered Schrodinger's Batfleck – he is both directing, writing, and starring in The Batman and not directing, writing, and starring in The Batman simultaneously until the movie hits theaters and we see the credits for ourselves.
