NY Police Commissioner: Colorado Gunman "Said He Was The Joker"

Amidst the emerging details surrounding last night's tragic events in Colorado, New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly — while addressing the press regarding security measures that will be taken for theaters in his city — appeared to add more detail to this developing story.

New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the gunman suspected of attacking a crowded movie theater in Aurora, Colorado resembled Batman's arch-villain "The Joker" at the time of the shocking attack.

"We have some information, most of it is public. It clearly looks like a deranged individual. He had his hair painted red, he said he was 'The Joker,' obviously the 'enemy' of Batman," Kelly said about the suspect, 24-year-old James Holmes, at a news conference Friday.

Though it's unclear if the detail about the red hair is accurate information at this point (The Joker is typically portrayed with green hair), ABC News appears to have a source who has corroborated that James Holmes called himself the Joker:

"He said he was the Joker," one law enforcement official told ABC News, referring to a villain from the Batman series.
