Oculus Announce Rift Is Coming In Q1 2016; Oculus Touch Coming Too
Today Oculus conducted their Pre-E3 press conference, so I guess in a way, we have started E3. That is kind of terrifying.
It was officially announced that the Oculus Rift would be coming in Q1 of 2016, as we previously suspected. On top of that, Oculus announced a partnership with Microsoft, meaning that the Oculus will work with Windows 10. Each headset will also come packaged with an Xbox One controller. (Not to brag, but I called this marriage!). You'll be able to stream your Xbox One games on to a PC too, which you can then use an Oculus to put yourself into a virtual living room. It's pretty weird.
Alongside that, Oculus also announced the Touch, a pair of input controllers that allow you to use VR more seemlessly with your body. They look pretty weird and just about everyone is being snarky about them, but honestly, without using them, it is impossible to say how intuitive and comfortable they are.

The big absentee was price. We are only a few months out from the Vive coming out and we are still no closer to finding out how much these systems will set us back. I think we are honestly caught in a game of VR chicken when it comes to price. No one wants to over or under value their hardware and it's hard to do that without established competition. We will see in time I suppose.
