Profiles in History Auctions Phasers, Stormtroopers, and More [SDCC]

Profiles in History was founded in 1985 by Joseph Maddalena and since then has established itself as the world's largest auctioneer of original Hollywood memorabilia.

Brian Chanes, Head of Consignor Relations and Client Relations at Profiles in History, took some time out of his very busy Comic-Con schedule to show Bleeding Cool around their booth and share a little of the history of each piece. The booth itself is chock full of screen-used costumes and props awaiting their auction date — let's dive right in.

We'll start by taking a look at a few of Brian's favorites, beginning with a beautiful The Force Awakens stormtrooper helmet, and it comes certified by George Lucas. The helmet was screen used, as evidenced by the dings and cracks from the production, and also happens to be signed by Lucas, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford, and many more.

"All the main characters signed this helmet," Brian tells me.

C-3PO's hands are from Return of the Jedi. "They were made at ILM, screen used, and George Lucas himself consigned this display and donated them to the prep school that his daughter was attending in the mid-'80s," Brian informs me.

Holy Midichlorians! Next up is Luke Skywalker's lightsaber from A New Hope.

Brian begins by telling me that this lightsaber is consigned to by Roger Christian. Roger won the Academy Award in 1977 for set decoration on Star Wars, and it was his idea to use the Graflex flash guns to build Luke's lightsaber. He has kept this pristine piece in his collection the entire time.

Another great piece of Hollywood History that we have here is The Wicked Witch of the West's hat. This hat has been in the collection of David Weiss, the liquidator, who was responsible for selling the entire backlot of MGM in 1970. Right next to that is Glenda the Good Witch's Brooch, from Wizard of Oz as well.

Set your phase pistols to "Fun", because here is an extremely rare "Type 2" Phaser pistol from Star Trek: The Original Series. There have been tons of fakes and reproductions on the market. This one came from a producer at Paramount who was gifted this by the art director of Star Trek when they wrapped.

But there is so much more! Captain Kirk's season 3 tunic, Arnold's "hero" prop shotgun from Terminator 2, Marty McFly's original hoverboard, Wolverine's "hero" claws from X2, and too much more.
