The latest episode of Marvel's Agents of SHIELD was full of deception last night… both in the story and in the storytelling. Going into the episode the Agent May LMD realized what it was because of an injury, Leo Fitz downloaded the decapitated Aida's programming onto his tablet. Phil Coulson has taken back control of SHIELD while leaving Jeffrey Mace as the figure head. And of course we learned that Holden Radcliffe is actively seeking the Darkhold. And that's where we pick up.

It's easier to break this down into sections than trying to look at it linearly. The episode starts with Daisy Johnson having to go to Washington for a hearing and to sign the Sokovia Accords. Mace and General Talbot are going to go with her. While they are there, Coulson and Yo-Yo are going to sneak into Senator Nadeer's office and bug it. Mac MacKenzie was supposed to go as well, but instead took a personal day. Nadeer is tipped off and sets a trap for Coulson and Yo-Yo and then uses there getting caught to start to have hearings about SHIELD. Talbot is not happy about any of this and Coulson now knows there is a mole in the agency.

The LMD May shows up at Radcliffe's place, angry that she's been tampered with. Still refusing to accept what she is. But she learns that she is programmed to never reveal herself and to never go after Radcliffe. Radcliffe gains some insight about the real May while talking to the LMD version.

While all of this is going on, the real Melinda May breaks out and fights Aida in an attempt to escape. But the whole thing is a scenario to keep her calm… because being in danger is calm for May. But Radcliffe realizes that to really keep May calm, he should take her back to Bahrain and let her save the little girl. This is an important event in May's life and Radcliffe could change her forever.

We find out that Mac's personal day was to go see his ex-wife. They had a daughter, Hope, who only lived four days. His ex has a hard time with Hope's birthday so Mac went so she wouldn't be alone.

And we get what looks like it might be a bump i the relationship between Fitz and Jemma Simmons. Fitz appears to be obsessing over Aida and Simmons catches him with the downloaded program. She gets very upset until Fitz reveals that he's not upset, he's doing an investigation. He's discovered that it wasn't the Darkhold that messed with Aida's programming, it was Radcliffe. Fitz though that from the start but hoped he was just being paranoid. But this was the source of the leak and they went and brought in Radcliffe. Fitz went to visit him, figure out that this wasn't the real Radcliffe at all, but another LMD.

The real Radcliffe has turned to work with Senator Nadeer knowing that he was no longer safe with SHIELD, hence creating the LMD of himself. And now he's supposed to meet the Supreme leader of the group.

That last moment when we find out Radcliffe is with Nadeer and going to meet the leader, I suddenly got the idea that this whole thing is a long con. That Radcliffe is playing double agent to figure out who is behind Nadeer and the Watchdogs and Coulson knows everything that is going on. Might not be the case, but that though popped into my head at the end of the episode.

Next week we get the episode we've all be unknowingly waiting for… the truth of Agent Koenig (all of them) is revealed as Patton Oswalt returns.
