CBS has given a full pilot order to a new series from The Shield creator Shawn Ryan. The series is a reboot of S.W.A.T. (Special Weapons and Tactics), but it's based on the 2003 film that starred Colin Ferrell, LL Cool J and Samuel L Jackson, which was inspired by the 70's drama on ABC.

The story follows a S.W.A.T. lieutenant who is torn between his duty to his fellow officers and his loyalty to the streets when he is put in command of a highly trained unit of the L.A.P.D.

Justin Lin (True Detective) will direct the pilot.
