Talking animals and body switching are two tropes that have been floating around media for a very long time. Talking animals specifically seem to be having a real moment with Zootopia 2, Hoppers, and GOAT, all showing that not only is there still interest in one of the most common tropes in children's animation, but there are still plenty of new angles to explore as well. Swapped looks like it is going to be Netflix's turn, and it is also doing body-swapping like Hoppers, only with its own twist. Instead of humans, now we have two different species swapping places. Netflix animation really took off last year with KPop Demon Hunters, so it's absolutely something to keep an eye on if you like to add another film to the list coming out this year. The first trailer has been released along with a new poster and images.

Swapped: Summary, Cast List, Release Date

A buddy comedy about a small woodland creature (voiced by Academy Award-winning Michael B. Jordan) and a majestic bird (voiced by Juno Temple) — natural sworn enemies of The Valley — who suddenly swap bodies and must team up (while walking in each other's feathers and fur) to survive the wildest adventure of their lives.

Swapped, directed by Nathan Greno, stars Michael B. Jordan, Juno Temple, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Justina Machado, Ambika Mod, and Lolly Adefope. It will stream to Netflix on May 1, 2026.
