What Is Going On With Twin Peaks?

Things have gotten strange around Twin Peaks and I'm not talking about the fictional city. Not long ago Showtime announced it was going to bring the series back for a 9 episode run with creators David Lynch and Mark Frost at the helm. There was also talk about Kyle MacLachlan reprising his role as Agent Dale Cooper.

Then on word came out that things weren't going smoothly, MacLachlan might have scheduling conflicts and finally David Lynch posted the following tweets yesterday.

But it doesn't end there. Seems Showtime is a bit surprised by the tweets and issues the following statement:

"We were saddened to read David Lynch's statement today since we believed we were working towards solutions with David and his reps on the few remaining deal points. SHOWTIME also loves the world of Twin Peaks and we continue to hold out hope that we can bring it back in all its glory with both of its extraordinary creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, at its helm."

So just as the series itself was full of strange twists and turns, the return of the series looks to be just as odd.
