SDCC '15: Angryfilms To Adapt Original Buck Rogers Novel
Angryfilms is reportedly beginning to develop the 1928 sci-fi classic Armageddon 2419 A.D. by Philip Francis Nowlan. It's the story of Anthony Rogers, who is trapped in suspended animation for almost 500 years before waking to an Earth caught in the middle of a Civil War with the remains of the United States fighting both the Soviets and the Mongolians. Later, the character of Rogers would go by his more familiar name of Buck Rogers.
Ground breaking at the time, the story predicted cell phones, drones and night vision goggles, it will be updated based on current technology. But the lead character, having lost everyone he loved years prior, will be more dark and struggle to find his place in the new world.
The script will be written by Flint Dille (Transformers) and Ed Neumeier (Robocop). Dille has a unique connection to the project, he is the grandson of newspaper syndicator John F. Dille who brought Buck Rogers to mass audiences, expanded on the character and had the daily comic strip created.
