Aisha Tyler Set to Host 2019 Directors Guild Awards

In a year when the Academy Awards had some embarrassing issues naming their official host for the 2019 Oscars ceremony, it seems like other awards shows are picking up the slack with their announcements.

We had Sandra Oh host the Golden Globe Awards (along with Andy Samberg), Alicia Keys is hosting the Grammys, Megan Mullally is hosting the SAG (Screen Actors Guild) Awards, and as it was announced yesterday, Aisha Tyler will be hosting the Directors Guild Awards.

Tyler is no stranger to hosting duties; she's got numerous panels during San Diego Comic-Con under her belt, as well as events for South By Southwest and multiple other events.

DGA President Thomas Schlamme said of the announcement:

"We're excited to have Aisha on board for the 71st Annual DGA Awards. She is ideally suited to host our special evening celebrating filmmaking."

The 71st Annual Directors Guild Awards are set to happen on Saturday, February 2nd at Hollywood & Highland Center's Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood.
