Alec Baldwin May Take Trump Impersonation to Broadway

Alec Baldwin may be taking his Trump show on the road… and that road is Broadway. The actor show won an Emmy for his impersonation of the 45th President of the United States is contemplating doing a solo show as The Donald. SNL boss Lorne Michaels would be producing, which he is also doing for SNL Alum Tina Fey's musical adaptation of Mean Girls, headed to Broadway this spring.

Baldwin mentioned his thoughts on this while being interviewed by Howard Stern on his Sirius XM program. He was on there to promote his new book, You Can't Spell America Without Me. It's a parody of the "really tremendous inside story" of the president's first year in office, co-written by Kurt Anderson.

The actor told Stern about the idea and why Michaels's approval is key:

"We may take the book and make it into a one-man show on Broadway. What Lorne did do is give me permission to write this book. My rendering of (Trump) is his intellectual property."

This wouldn't be unprecedented. In 2009, Will Ferrell performed his SNL impression of the 43rd President at the Cort Theater in a performance called You're Welcome, America, a Final Night with George W. Bush. It ran for three months and was called a smash hit.

Baldwin has done multiple stage performances including five Broadway shows. He played Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire opposite Jessica Lange and Amy Madigan.
