New Arrow Synopsis Hints at Oliver Queen's Enemy for Season 7
Today's SDCC panel announcement from Warner Bros. Television contained some interesting nuggets of information, including a synopsis for the upcoming seventh season of Arrow. While it didn't come out and name an specific names or any major spoilers, it definitely gives us some things to think about.
There has been no shortage of close calls for Oliver Queen when it comes to protecting his Super Hero identity, but in the season six finale, he was finally backed into a corner and forced to reveal himself to the world as the Green Arrow. Now, Oliver will come face-to-face with many of the criminals he placed behind bars, as he makes a new home for himself at Slabside Maximum Security Prison. Oliver will find himself vulnerable in a way unlike ever before when a mysterious new enemy begins to unravel his work as Green Arrow, challenging him to redeem his name or risk losing everything.
Now we all knew that Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) revealed his identity to the world and was arrested. He will start season 7 inside Slabside Maximum Security Prison, which is pretty much right out of the never-produced screenplay, Green Arrow: Super Max. In the screenplay Oliver has to deal with a lot of other prisoners and form a team to break out. The above synopsis talks about how Oliver will come face-to-face with criminals he sent to prison, which means we will likely see the return of some old favorites from past seasons.
The really interesting part is the description of a new enemy who is trying to unravel his work as Green Arrow. It says the mysterious new character is challenging him to redeem his name or risk losing everything. Which almost makes it sound like the new enemy isn't out to hurt Oliver as Prometheus, Cayden James, and Ricardo Dragon wanted to do, but rather force Oliver back into action — to make him be a hero again. This almost sounds like how Zoom wanted to make the Flash the best hero he could be. This sounds like a very different type of character than the previous season big bads, though it doesn't immediately bring a character from the comics to mind.
Arrow returns this fall on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
